Do’s And Don’ts Of VoIP Reselling

2020 is most certainly an exciting time to be a VoIP Reseller. So, if you are interested or are just starting out, we thought we would give you some do’s and don’ts of VoIP reselling.

Do Take Time To Understand Your Customer

Each and every VoIP client are going to have different business needs. If you try and use the same sales pitch every time, you are unlikely to have much success!

Remember that VoIP is designed to be as versatile as possible, if a customer feels like they are being listened to, they are going to feel more comfortable about spending money with you.

Don’t Get Too Technical

While it is important that someone reselling VoIP needs to know as much technical information as possible, your customer doesn’t need to know all the jargon.

Too many acronyms and abbreviations are going to sound like a foreign language.

Put yourself in the position of your customers business and translate the VoIP features into something that they will find useful.

Do Make Sure You Know All About VoIP

Of course, you will get asked a question that you may not know the answer to, that’s fine, we are only human after all.

But, take time and do enough research to understand what you are selling.

This will make VoIP reselling feel more natural, both for you and any customers. If you rely on a scripted sales script, it will sound too robotic and won’t have the flexibility to deal with any questions.

Don’t Be Afraid Of Saying I Don’t Know

There is a tendency, in some sales roles, to think that not knowing something is a weakness and it will make you less likely to achieve a sale.

However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with saying “I don’t know, but I will find out for you’ when you are asked a question and you aren’t sure of the answer.

If anything, it shows honesty and that will go a long way with a potential customer.

Do Be Punctual Reselling VoIP

This doesn’t just apply to face to face meetings either, people who are running their own businesses don’t have a lot of spare time.

If you say you will call a client at 2pm, then call them at 2pm. People won’t mind if you have to rearrange, but they will mind if you don’t let them know and just disappeared.

If you say you will get back to client about a technical issue by the end of the day, make sure you do.

People don’t generally mind waiting, as long as they know how long they will be waiting for.

Don’t Get Set In Your Ways

It’s easy to get stuck doing things in a certain way, you know what you are doing, you get used to certain sales technique and then you get asked about a new development in VoIP communications and you have no idea what they are talking about.

To be a good VoIP Reseller in the long term you will have to make sure that you keep up to date with the world of telecommunications and anything tech related.

For example, keep up to date with news about 5G and VoIP, this will have a huge impact on VoIP communications over the coming years.

If the company that provide you with VoIP products have new ranges or new functionality, make sure you know what they are and how they work.

Here at VIP VoIP, we will always ensure that our VoIP resellers are fully up to speed with any product developments that we make.

Don’t Be Too Pushy

There’s nothing worse than a pushy salesperson when you are interested in buying something.

With so much competition for every type of product, a customer will just look to get their VoIP system from someone else.

The mindset should more like you have something that could solve a problem for them.

By first understanding how their business works, then what their business needs, you can go on to explain how you can provide the communications solutions.

This way VoIP reselling is more like a conversation than a sales pitch, and then as they go through the process of having a VoIP system installed, you can be the main contact through the whole process.

Making sure that any queries and issues that occur are dealt with promptly and with as little disruption to their business as possible.
